Sustainability Initiatives
Soil Management
Soil is the foundation of all life on Earth. At New House Farm we are committed to nurturing our soil and building a resilient, sustainable agricultural system.
- We’re working with ecological agronomist Tim Ashley to address soil health issues
- We’re making ‘mother composts’ to Tim’s recipes
- We create compost extracts and teas to apply to seeds and crops
- We’re making bulk compost with various ingredients to apply to the land
- Our goal is to increase soil carbon levels to a minimum of 6%
Biodiversity
Our farming practices are designed to enhance biodiversity:
- We maximize biodiversity in and above the soil
- We grow a diverse range of crops
- We maintain over 20 acres of woodland and old permanent pastures
Water Management
We recognise the importance of responsible water management in sustainable farming. Our practices aim to improve the water cycle and reduce the risk of soil erosion and compaction, which can affect water resources and increase flood risk.
